Settings:

Users:

  • Check out our comprehensive guide to User Permissions here! 💡

  • Admin-level access - Admins have unrestricted access to all parts of the platform. This includes viewing, modifying, and deleting data.

View the access level and modify permissions with the three-dot menu.

Users can view and interact with certain features based on their permission settings, but their access is limited.

Here's the default permission levels as your PastorsLine Users have been moved over 🔽

Contact Records:

  • Duplicates:

Text In Church is designed to prevent duplicate contacts from being created. Each contact must have unique contact information.

The system will prevent you from adding duplicate contacts and prevent duplicates from syncing into the account from an integration.

  • Integrations:

All contacts will not automatically be added to your Text In Church account when you set up an integration.

You'll want to create a list or group on the integration side. Then choose to sync those lists or groups.

Contacts who are in those syncing lists and groups and meet the syncing criteria will sync between both platforms.

(Syncing criteria includes: Is an adult in PCO, has unique contact information)

Messages:

Text (SMS & MMS) Allotment:

You can find your allotment by going to Settings, then the Subscription tab, and you'll see your Subscriptions totals for texts, phone numbers, and Callers (if you have a Calling plan).

  • Credit Usage:

Texting credits do not roll over; you will have the same allotment each month unless you adjust your subscription.

One message to one contact counts as one message; one message sent to a Group of ten contacts is ten messages.

Sending messages with attachments counts as two messages, so one message with an attachment to a Group of ten contacts is twenty messages.

  • Shortcodes:

Text In Church does not offer a shared shortcode, but we can work with our carrier to help you obtain one if desired.

We don't typically recommend short codes for most churches due to how resource-intensive ownership is.

  • Character Limit:

Text In Church allows you to send 459 standard characters per message, which can be broken into three segments of 160 characters.

You are not charged per segment; the system counts a 160-character message the same as it does for a 459-character message.

If you are sending emojis or non-standard characters, you'll only have 201 characters to send in total due to the increased data it takes to send non-standard characters.

  • Attachments:

You can send attachments from your Text In Church number, like images and audio files!

Attachments do cause your message to count for an additional credit against your allotment due to how carriers count MMS messages.

Voice Broadcasts:

Voice Broadcasts are a great way to send personal audio messages to your contacts.

When your contact receives the Voice Broadcast, they can answer it like a phone call to hear your pre-recorded message.

Or, if they're unavailable, the Voice Broadcast will be accessible as a voicemail on their device.

They're a great option for contacts who have landlines or those who prefer not to receive text messages.

The cost is based on usage, calculated at 1 credit per minute per person reached, making it an affordable and practical solution for mass communication.

  • 1-minute message to 100 people = 100 messages

  • 2-minute message to 100 people = 200 messages

Email Messages:

Unlimited emails are included in every Text In Church texting plan, so don't hesitate to jump into sending emails from your Text In Church account!

(Note: Emails are not included in Calling-only plans.)

When you're sending an email, you'll have the option to set what email address receives your contact's replies.

Groups:

Keywords:

You can have one Keyword per Group within Text In Church! There is not currently a way to set fall-backs or more than one Keyword per Group.

Keywords can be attached to one or more numbers on your account.

Contacts can text your Keyword to receive a reply and join the Group the Keyword is linked to.

Connect Cards:

Connect Cards are a great way to digitally gather your contacts' information and add them to your account.

You can customize how your Connect Card looks, what questions it asks, and which questions are required in the Cards section of the Connect tab in your account.

Every Connect Card is automatically created with the three contact information questions that cannot be removed: Name, Phone Number, and Email address.

You can mark every question but the Name question as unrequired by editing the question within the Connect Card.

Automated Workflows:

Automated Workflows are Text In Church's version of Automated Message Campaigns!

You can schedule a series of messages to send to a specific Group of contacts using an Automated Workflow!

Our Automated Workflows have three types of Triggers:

  • Group Join:
The messages trigger when a contact joins your Group while the Workflow is active; this Trigger is great for follow-up.

  • Calendar Date:
Messages can be scheduled around a specific date; this Trigger is fantastic for messaging about events, or when you want everyone to receive their messages at the same time, like a daily devotional.

  • Person Date:
Messages can be scheduled to send around a specific date for each contact; this Trigger is best utilized with birthdays and anniversaries.

Pages:

Pages are a great way to send information and a call to action with a link over text!

You can create a Page that contains a video, hyperlinked text, images, and more from the Pages section of the Connect tab.

Pages have a much larger character allotment than SMS, so you can type as much as you need to share with your contacts and send all of that information with one Page!

Calling by Text In Church:

Looking for an all-in-one phone solution? Text In Church also has Calling plans!

You can receive incoming calls and make outgoing calls from your Text In Church account with a Calling plan!

Depending on your Calling plan, you also have access to features like unlimited Digital Receptionists, additional SMS per Caller, and more!
