Naming the Number

It's recommended to give your number a name for easy identification, especially for voicemail purposes.

This is an internal name and will only be seen by Users of your account.

Forwarding Calls

You can choose to forward incoming calls to a specific User in the account.

If you have Calling, you can forward calls to a Digital Receptionist. LEARN MORE

Caller ID Features

Managing Your Outgoing Caller ID

To configure or update your Caller ID settings in Text In Church, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Text In Church account.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Phone Numbers.

  3. Locate the phone number you wish to modify and click the pencil icon next to it.

  4. In the Public Display Name field, input your desired Caller ID name. This is the name that will appear as your Caller ID.

Announce Caller: This feature allows you to hear the incoming caller's number or name (if their contact has a name in the account) before accepting the call. (

Note: Caller ID for your number can be adjusted in the Phone Numbers tab of your Settings with the Public Display Name field.)

Rules for Caller ID Names

Ensure your Caller ID name adheres to the following rules:

  • The name must not exceed 15 characters, including spaces.

  • It must begin with a letter.

  • It can include letters and spaces.

Troubleshooting Caller ID Issues

Changes Not Reflecting in Text Messages

If you notice that the updated Public Display Name is not showing in tests or text messages, it is important to know that Caller ID applies only to outgoing calls, not texts.

Delay in Changes Taking Effect

Updates to the Public Display Name may take some time due to registration processes. The carriers must process the change after it's submitted.

Caller ID and Voice Broadcasts

If you have configured a Caller ID, recipients of your Voice Broadcasts will see the name you set as the Caller ID.

Account-Wide Branding Considerations

For a consistent branding approach, you may also consider updating the account name used for outbound messages and Caller ID references under Settings > Branding.

Choosing a Caller ID name that matches your organization’s website or branding can enhance recognition and professionalism.

Voicemail Handling:

Voicemail Collection: If you don't set up call forwarding, the number will collect voicemails when someone calls it.

Accessing Voicemails

To access voicemails left on your account, head over to the Calling tab. All your voicemails can be found here!

You can listen to the voicemail audio, view the caller's name, and identify the number the call was made from.

Saving Your Settings

Once you've configured your preferred settings:

Click "Save" to apply the changes to your phone number.
