How to Access Phone Number Settings in Text In Church
Log in to your Text In Church account.
Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left-hand sidebar to open Settings.
Click Phone Numbers.
Click the three-dot icon next to the number you want to manage to access its settings, set it as the default, or remove it.
Account-Wide Settings
Auto-Marking Messages as Read
When enabled, messages are automatically marked as read after 1 second of opening a conversation. This setting is off by default. When turned on, it applies to all phone numbers on your account.
Individual Phone Number Settings
Click the three-dot icon next to any number to access these options:
Naming the Number
Assign an internal name to each number for easy identification. This is especially useful when managing multiple lines. Names are only visible to your account users and are also used for voicemail identification.
Setting a Default Number
Set any number as the default for your account. The default number is used when sending messages without specifying a particular line.
Forwarding Calls
Forward incoming calls to a specific user in the account. If you have Calling enabled, you can also forward to a Digital Receptionist.
Timeout Settings
Configure how many seconds a call rings before it goes to the Text In Church voicemail. If this timeout is shorter than the time it takes your forwarded number to go to voicemail, the voicemail will be left in Text In Church instead.
Allow Incoming SMS Messages
On by default. Uncheck to prevent texts from coming in on this number. If you have Keywords assigned to a number and this box is unchecked, those Keywords will not be triggered.
Allow Incoming Calls
Toggle this on to allow phone calls to this number. Uncheck to prevent incoming calls.
After Hours Auto Reply
Set up an automated reply message for after-hours contacts and define the timeframe for when it should send.
Call Forwarding Hours
Set a schedule for when calls should be forwarded. For 24/7 coverage, set the time range to 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. for each day.
Public Display Name
This is the name used when the spam compliance message is sent from your number.
How Email Reply Routing Works in Text In Church
When you send an email from Text In Church, you designate a specific reply-to email address for that message. When a recipient replies, their reply goes directly to that reply-to address. Replies do not come back to your Text In Church inbox.
Caller ID Settings in Text In Church
To configure your Caller ID, go to Settings, then Branding, and enter your desired name in the Caller ID field.
Caller ID rules:
Maximum 15 characters including spaces
Must begin with a letter
Can include letters and spaces only
Caller ID applies to outgoing calls only and not to text messages. Updates may take time to take effect as carriers must process the change. If you use Voice Broadcasts, recipients will see your Caller ID name. For consistent branding, use a name that matches your organization's name under Settings, then Branding.
Voicemail Settings
If you do not set up call forwarding, the number collects voicemails when someone calls it. To access voicemails, go to the Calling tab. All voicemails are listed there, including the audio, the caller name, and the number the call came from.
After configuring any phone number settings, click Save to apply your changes.
