Getting Started with Calling™ by Text In Church

A step-by-step setup guide for Calling™ by Text In Church — get your Callers, Teams, and Digital Receptionist configured and ready to go.

Calling by Text In Church adds phone call capabilities to your existing account, letting your church receive and make calls through a dedicated church number. This article walks through how to add Calling, set up your callers and teams, configure your Digital Receptionist, and port your existing number.

How to Add Calling to Your Account

Calling is priced per caller (also called a seat) — the number of people on your team who need to make or receive calls. One caller costs $10/month. Each additional caller you add is another $10/month. If you only need one person handling calls, the cost is $10/month total.

To add a single caller, go to the Marketplace tab in your account settings while signed in on a browser and add Calling directly. For teams that need multiple callers, the following plans are available — contact support@textinchurch.com to add one:

  • Calling Core — $10/seat/month or $100/seat/year (3-seat minimum). Includes unlimited calling to US and Canada, a local 10-digit number, mobile app access, Smart Voicemail Assistant, available hours settings, and a conversation history dashboard.

  • Calling Plus — $12/seat/month or $120/seat/year (3-seat minimum). Includes everything in Calling Core, plus: connect your current church number, unlimited advanced Digital Receptionists, call menu logic and forwarding, unlimited recordings with Pro Voice Studio, and 50 SMS messages/month/seat.

  • Calling Enterprise — $15/seat/month or $150/seat/year (25-seat minimum). Includes everything in Calling Plus, plus: softphone compatibility, personalized onboarding, dedicated success manager, and 75 SMS messages/month/seat.

Step 1: Set Up Your Callers

  1. Log in to your account at app.textinchurch.com/calling and go to the Calling tab.

  2. Click Set up your Callers and follow the prompts to configure your calling system.

Step 2: Set Up Your Teams

  1. In the Calling tab, click Add New in the Teams section.

  2. Create and organize your church teams to streamline communication and call routing.

Step 3: Set Up Your Digital Receptionist

  1. In the Calling tab, click Add New in the Digital Receptionist section.

  2. Configure your Digital Receptionist to greet and route callers.

Note: Pressing * repeats the current menu. Pressing 0 returns to the main menu of the Digital Receptionist.

How to Port Your Existing Church Number

If you want to keep your existing church phone number when switching to Calling, you can port it over. Porting lets you continue using your current number for both Calling and Text In Church features, so nothing changes for your congregation.

  1. Go to the Calling tab.

  2. In the Phone Numbers box, click Add New.

  3. Select the option to port your current number.

  4. Fill out the required information. Text In Church will send you the necessary documentation to complete the port.

Troubleshooting Outgoing Calls

If you or your team cannot enable outgoing calls in the Text In Church app, make sure each person is set up as a Caller in the Calling tab. Callers must be configured before outgoing calls will work. If the issue continues after setup, contact support@textinchurch.com.
