How to Create Connect Widget

build and customize a connect widget to display connect cards or additional resource links on your website ( how to use #ticpopup)

Written by Randalin Ward

The Connect Widget is a tool you install on your church website that lets visitors interact with your Connect Cards, donation links, and other resources.

You can set it up as a chat bubble, sticky button, banner, pop-up, or countdown timer. This guide walks through building and configuring your Connect Widget in Text In Church step by step.

To set up the widget on your church website, see the installation guide linked at the end of this article.

Step 1: Navigate to Widgets in Text In Church

  1. Sign in to your Text In Church account in a browser.

  2. Click the Connect tab from the main menu.

  3. Select Widgets.

Step 2: Create a New Connect Widget

  1. Click the blue Add New button in the top right corner.

Step 3: Design Your Connect Widget

  1. Customize the Widget appearance:

    • Set the color and font color.

    • Add your church logo. This logo will appear on the chat bubble if you enable the bubble display option.

    • Optionally add a video.

    • Add a headline and description text.

  2. Assign a name to your Widget.

  3. Click Next to proceed.

Step 4: Configure Connect Cards and Resources

  1. Choose which Connect Cards will display on the Widget. A single Widget can showcase multiple Connect Cards, such as Plan a Visit, Prayer Requests, or Volunteer Sign-Ups.

  2. Add additional resources like donation links by clicking Add and pasting the appropriate URL.

  3. Click Next to continue.

Step 5: Configure Widget Display Settings

Choose how the Widget appears on your website. The available display options are:

  • Chat bubble - appears in the bottom right or bottom left corner of your website

  • Sticky button - displays social proof or custom text as a persistent button

  • Sticky banner - pinned to the top or bottom of the page with customizable text

  • Timed pop-up - triggers after a set time with custom text or a video

  • Date timer - shows a countdown to an upcoming event

  • Weekly timer - counts down to the next service

  • Button click trigger (#ticpopup) - copy the provided script and paste it into any button on your website to trigger the Widget on click

  • Direct link - a standalone URL you can share on social media or in emails

Save your display settings when done.

Notes and Next Steps

Once your Widget is saved, you are ready to install it on your website. Your Widget ID can be found in the Widget settings — you will need this when adding the install script to your site.

See the Connect Widget installation guide for step-by-step website setup instructions.
