Is Calling by Text In Church Compatible with My Existing Landline Equipment?
Calling operates as a virtual phone system that routes calls to your cell phone while keeping your personal number hidden from recipients.
It also offers desk phone integration for users who want to use landline equipment for making or receiving calls.
Can I Keep My Current Phone Number?
Yes. You can transfer your existing number from your current provider to Calling by Text In Church.
This process typically takes up to two weeks. During that time, you need to keep your service active with your current provider.
While the number is being ported, we will provide a temporary phone number so you can set up your Digital Receptionists, Callers, and Teams in advance.
To start the process, go to the Calling tab, click Add New under Phone Numbers, and complete the form. You will receive documentation to finalize the port.
Where Is Calling Available?
Calling by Text In Church is currently available in the United States and Canada.
How Many Digital Receptionists Can I Create?
You can create an unlimited number of Digital Receptionists. However, only one Digital Receptionist can be active on a phone number at a time.
To configure your Digital Receptionist, go to the Calling tab and customize the call routing options.
How Do I Make a Call?
Make sure you are set up as a Caller in the Calling tab first. Then:
Open the Text In Church app on your phone.
Go to the Calling tab.
Tap the blue dialpad button.
Enter the phone number you want to call.
Confirm the correct number in the blue dropdown and press the blue call button.
For a full walkthrough, see the placing calls guide.
How Do I Call 911?
In an emergency, do not use the Text In Church app. Dial 911 directly from your personal device to ensure the fastest possible response.
How Do I Get Calls to Go to a Person Before the Digital Receptionist?
In the Calling tab, go to Phone Numbers and click Manage. Click the three dots next to your phone number and select Edit.
Choose the Human Receptionist option, select who should receive the calls, and set their available hours. Click Save when done.
Why Is My Number Not Showing as Caller ID on Outbound Calls?
If the expected number is not appearing as caller ID on outbound calls, confirm that the correct number was selected when placing the call. It is not currently possible to mask the number that displays on outbound calls.
You can set a Caller ID name (up to 15 characters) to display alongside the number:
Log in to Text In Church on the web.
Go to Settings > Branding.
Enter your name in the Caller ID field.
What Is the Caller Overage Charge?
If your account has more Callers than your subscription supports, you will see an overage fee for each Caller over your plan limit.
You can review your current plan limits in Settings > Subscriptions.
To avoid overage charges for Callers, ensure that the number of Callers set in your account matches the number included in your plan.
