2FA Troubleshooting Guide

Having trouble receiving your 2FA code(s)? This is the guide for you!

Written by Jilliann Piazza

If you're having trouble receiving your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) code, there are a few common causes to check. This article walks through each one so you can get back into your account quickly.

Blocked Shortcodes

Many devices automatically block messages from unknown senders or specific shortcodes, which can prevent 2FA codes from being delivered. Here's how to check on each device type:

Samsung devices: Open the Messages app → tap the three-dot menu → select Spam & Blocked → unblock any shortcodes listed there.

Google Messages: Open Settings in the Messages app and check for any blocked senders or shortcodes.

iPhone: Go to Settings → Apps → Phone → Blocked Contacts and remove any shortcodes listed there.

Not Receiving the Code on Your Phone

If your 2FA code isn't arriving via text, work through the following steps:

  1. Restart your device. A simple restart can resolve temporary issues that affect message delivery.

  2. Check your signal strength. Make sure you have adequate network coverage to receive SMS messages.

  3. Switch to mobile data. Turn off Wi-Fi and try mobile data instead — some SMS messages fail to deliver over Wi-Fi.

  4. Review your device settings. Confirm that Do Not Disturb mode is off, that you can receive other text messages, and that your carrier hasn't blocked short code texting on your plan.

  5. Check for filtered messages. Some devices sort messages from unknown senders into a separate inbox. Look for an "Unknown Senders" or similar folder in your messaging app.

Not Receiving the Code in Your Email

If your 2FA code was sent to your email and you can't find it, try the following:

  • Check your junk or spam folder.

  • Search your inbox for emails from noreply@textinchurch.com.

  • Confirm you're checking the correct email address — the one associated with your Text In Church account.

If you're looking for a password reset email or an account activation email and can't find it, check your spam or junk folder. Some email providers route automated messages there by default. If you find the email in spam, mark it as "not spam" and whitelist noreply@textinchurch.com so future messages arrive in your inbox. If it's not in spam either, contact our support team and they'll investigate.

Trouble Logging In to Your Account

If you're having trouble signing in, work through whichever scenario applies.

Invalid password error

Invalid username or email error

  • Confirm you're using the email address tied to your User on the account.

  • Ask another admin to verify your email by going to Settings > Users while logged in on a browser.
